Grenada’s history has been central to The Repair Campaign September’s newsletter feature. Here is a brief roundup of a few such events during September 2025, in which reparatory justice took a central focus.

Royal Reckoning: New Evidence Shows King George IV Personally Profited from Slavery in Grenada

Newly uncovered documents reveal that King George IV received direct payments from slave plantations in Grenada, intensifying the island nation’s demands for an apology and reparations from the British monarchy.
 

Grenada Severs Historic Tie, Moves to Abolish Oath of Allegiance to King Charles

Grenada’s government has declared a constitutional amendment removing the mandatory oath of allegiance to the British monarch for its parliamentarians and public officials, a significant step toward becoming a republic.

Caribbean Nations Unite for CARIFESTA XV: A Landmark Celebration of Arts, Culture, and Reparatory Justice in Barbados

The fifteenth Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA) took place in Barbados, serving as a major platform to celebrate regional creativity while directly linking cultural expression to the ongoing movement for reparations.

From its roots in resisting colonisation, Grenada’s Spicemas plays mas’ every year in August as a celebration of fighting for freedom.
 

"Nothing About Us Without Us": Building a unified Afro-diasporic front for reparatory justice

A pivotal gathering in The Hague, Netherlands united Afro-diasporic and pan-African communities across Europe to establish a community-led, authentic pathway for achieving reparatory justice, in direct partnership with CARICOM and global stakeholders, including The Repair Campaign.
 
 

Reconnecting Family: Ethiopia Hosts Historic Africa-CARICOM Summit for Reparatory Justice and Strategic Alliance

Ethiopia hosted a landmark summit to transform the deep cultural and historical bonds between Africa and the Caribbean into a formal strategic partnership, centred on reparatory justice and increased cooperation in trade, climate, and technology.  
 
 

From Talk to Action: UK Workshops Forge a Path for the Reparations Movement

These UK workshops, organized by leading racial justice groups, are moving beyond debate to provide practical tools and strategies for building a effective campaign for reparatory justice.
